About the Role
ViaR Recruitment is delighted to support the London Borough of Bexley in their search for a dedicated and experienced Domestic Abuse & MARAC Officer. This important role will involve working closely with various internal departments and partner agencies to provide high-quality support, coordination, and training to develop and improve the MARAC (Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference) process. The successful candidate will be a pivotal figure in supporting the DASV (Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence) Strategy Manager, helping raise awareness of domestic abuse, coordinate referrals, and maintain essential documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- MARAC Coordination: Act as the first point of contact for MARAC, ensuring effective collaboration and participation from partner agencies.
- Database Management: Maintain and manage MARAC data, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of cases, actions, and outcomes.
- Training and Awareness: Provide training, induction, and awareness sessions on the MARAC process and domestic abuse for colleagues and partner organisations.
- Case Management: Assess and quality assure MARAC referrals, ensuring compliance with the criteria for consideration at MARAC panels.
- Reporting and Performance: Provide regular reports on the effectiveness of the MARAC process, ensuring all necessary data is collected and actions followed up efficiently.
- Support: Assist in the financial management of services, including the administration of payments and reporting to the DASV Strategy Manager.
- Advocacy and Innovation: Contribute to the development of strategies and seek continuous improvements in service delivery for victims of domestic abuse.
Skills and Qualifications
- Essential:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
- Experience of working within multi-agency partnerships across voluntary, statutory, and community sectors.
- Knowledge of domestic abuse dynamics, advocacy, risk assessment, and relevant legislation.
- Proven ability to manage sensitive data and knowledge of Data Protection and Freedom of Information laws.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management systems.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.
- Desirable:
- Knowledge of the Modus Paloma case management system (training provided).
- Experience of coordinating multi-agency work in a domestic abuse context.
- An understanding of the legislative framework surrounding domestic violence, such as the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.
